The main source of oily sludge

Oily sludge is a solid waste produced during petroleum exploitation, transportation, refining and treatment of oily sewage. It is mainly divided into:

1.Crude oil extraction:
The oily sludge produced in the process of crude oil extraction mainly comes from the ground treatment system, The oily sludge produced in the process of oil recovery sewage treatment and the flocculation, equipment and pipeline corrosion products and scale, bacteria (corpse) formed by the water purification agent added in sewage treatment constitute the oily sludge. This kind of oily sludge generally has the characteristics of high oil content, high viscosity, fine particles, difficult dehydration and so on, it not only affects the quality of crude oil, but also leads to the difficulty of water injection and effluent standards.

2.Oily sludge is produced during gathering and transportation of oil fields:
Of oilfield gathering and transferring process of oily sludge mainly comes from the oil tank, block station, station setting tank, sewage tank, separation tank sediment, refinery oily water treatment facilities, light hydrocarbon processing plants, natural gas purification plant to clear out of the oil sands, oil sludge, drilling, oil field operation, pipeline perforation caused by ground crude oil and oil sludge. When oil storage tank is storing oil products, a small amount of mechanical impurities, sand, soil, heavy metal salts, paraffin, asphaltene and other heavy oily components in the oil products deposit on the bottom of the tank, forming the tank bottom sludge. Composition is complicated, the oily sludge itself contains a lot of aging oil, wax and asphaltene, colloid and suspended solids, bacteria, salt, acid gases, corrosion products, etc., in the process of sewage treatment also joined the large amount of coagulant, corrosion inhibitor, scale inhibitor, bactericide, such as water treatment agent, also mix in oily sludge.
In the 3-6 years of regular tank cleaning, the amount of oily sludge at the bottom of the tank accounts for about 1% of the tank capacity. The characteristics of oily sludge at the bottom of tank are very high hydrocarbon (oil) content. Typical analysis results of tank bottom sludge include about 25% water, 5% inorganic sediments such as sediment, 70% hydrocarbons, among which asphaltic accounted for 7.8%, paraffin accounted for 6%, sludge ash content 4.8%

3.Refinery:
The refinery sewage treatment of oily sludge mainly comes from the oil pool of sediment, flotation pond scum, original sediment tank, etc., commonly known as “3 mud”, the oily sludge of different, usually between 10% ~ 50% oil content, moisture content is between 40% ~ 90%, with a certain amount of solid.

4.Soil contaminated by oil used in iron and steel smelting and other industries.

5.Offshore oil field exploitation, the shoreline and river margin polluted by heavy oil hydrocarbons used in shipbuilding and repair ships, the seabed oily sludge, water body and surface oily sludge caused by oil spill caused by oil tanker and ship accidents, etc.
